Ahead of the International Human Rights Day which is coming up on the 10th of December, 2021, the International Human Rights Commission, IHRC, has organized an essay for 400 and 500 Level Students on the topic “Challenges to the enforcement of the right to bail in Nigeria: Way forward.”

Send your essay entry of not more than 500 words in Word format using font number 12 (1.5 line spacing) with your name, level of study and contact details to nigeria@ihrchq.org (attach a copy of your course registration for the current academic session (2021/2022) as well as a screenshot of your confirmation of registration email for the event) on or before the 3rd of December, 2021.

The essay entry which scores the highest points will be the winners and the author will be contacted and presented with the prize at the venue of the event on the 10th of December, 2021.

The winner of the essay competition will receive scholarship support of $200 (Two Hundred Dollars) and a brand new customized laptop from the International Human Rights Commission, Nigeria Central office.

Each year on the 10th of December, International Human Rights Day is celebrated all over the world with a designated theme. Last year, the focus was on young people and how you’re never too young to make a difference to the world. In 2021, Human Rights Day is focusing on how rights are the beginning of peace within societies, and a way to create a fairer society for future generations which is pertinent to Nigeria.
