Following the controversies trailing he identities of the 25 states where 368 grazing reserves to be reviewed by the Presidency are located, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has said it is not in the position to reveal the identities of the states.

The Director, Department of Animal Husbandry Services at the ministry Winnie Lai- Solarin, made this known to The Nation yesterday.

Lai-Solarin said there is a committee working on the review of the grazing sites and the states would be made known as soon as they are done.

She stated that the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alhaji Sabo Nanono, is a member of the Committee reviewing the 368 grazing sites across the 25 states, adding that it will not be different from what the ministry is doing.

She added that information has not changed about the states where the country has 415 grazing reserves.

According to her, the 415 grazing reserves which some have been developed are mainly in the north. Only a few states in the country don’t have grazing reserves and are mainly in the south.

She said: “All the northern states have grazing reserves. There are only a few states in the country that don’t have grazing reserves and they are mainly in the south.

“We should allow the committee to round up and give us the list. It is not good for the ministry to give us the list while committee is still working. It is the same thing. It is not going to change.

“It is good we allow the presidency do their work. The first set is what they just announced. Going forward, they will bring all the details out for everyone to see”.
