The Kaduna State University (KASU) has denied reports claiming it raised the tuition fee for non-indigenes to N500,000, saying it is still being deliberated on.

The internet was on Monday awash with rumours that the institution had increased its fees from N24,000 and N26,000 to N150,000 and N500,000 for indigenes and non-indigenes respectively.
Amid the outrage, Adamu Bargo, the spokesman of the varsity, in a statement, dismissed the figures circulating on social media as “false”.
The spokesman also disclosed that although the tuition fees would be reviewed upward, the management of the school is yet to announce the new figures.
“The Management of Kaduna State University wishes to inform students, parents and the general public to disregard the news in the social media and other outlets regarding the review of tuition fees,” the statement read.
“Management has met with students of the University on Thursday, 22nd April, 2021 and enlightened to allay fears.
“Furthermore, Management wishes to state that though tuition fees would be reviewed upward with specific fees on each course but yet to be announced. The figures being spread in the social media are false.
“The public will be informed on any new developments within the shortest possible time.”
In another statement signed by the management, the institution also reiterated that the upward review of the tuition fees is imminent but still at the consultation stage with stakeholders.
“The upward review of the tuition fees is a difficult decision based on the reality of the present time,” the statement read in part.
“The university hopes to improve the quality of teaching and research activities as well as create a more conducive atmosphere of learning for staff and students.
“However, the Kaduna state government has set aside the sum of N2 billion for loans at the Kaduna State Scholarship & Loans Board for interested and qualified students to access.
“The upward review of the tuition fees is at the consultation stage with stakeholders.”
