*Says Calling Off Strike Will Depend On The Outcome Of The Meeting

The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has resolved to honour the invitation of Nigerian Governors Forum on 14th April.

JUSUN made the resolution during its meeting which held on Saturday, with its National Executive Council (NEC) at its National Secretariat

The meeting was to review the ongoing industrial action and to appraise the meeting it held with the members of the National Executive Committee of the NBA, on Thursday 8th April, 2021., THENIGERIALAWYER, gathered.

According to the statement signed by the Organizing Secretary, Comr. Ali Mustapha, the Union noted that the reason for them to honour the invitation is for them to interface with Governors in order to find a common ground to resolve the issue of Financial Autonomy of the Judiciary.

After extensive deliberations, which took hours, the Union further resolved as follows: 

That the Union will honour the invitation extended to it, by the Minister of labour and productivity, to discuss the way out of the present strike action, the meeting between the Minister and the Union, is slated for Monday 12th April, 2021.

That the Union, will communicate, it resolutions of today’s NEC meeting to the CJN, to keep him Inform of the development so far, and for him to see reason while the Union has refused to call off it strike action, despite his plea to the Union. 

That the calling off of the strike will depend on the positive outcomes of the meetings with the Nigeria Governors Forum and that of the Minister of labour and productivity. 

The NEC, therefore, directs its chapters and branches nationwide, to continue the enforcement of the strike action in all the Courts and Judicial Institutions across the Country.
