Freedom of Information (FOI) Counsel, a Network of lawyers working with journalists to aid access to public records and defend their digital rights through legal support and advocacy, has written the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHDA) requesting for information regarding the covid-19 vaccine.

TheNigeriaLawyer learnt that the information sought includes the partnership agreement with African Vaccine Acquisition Task Team (AVATT), vaccine pre order budget, advance procurement guarantees, the international financial support for the vaccines procurement and minute of meetings for payment approval.

The Group gave the agency 14 days to respond to the request and the group has 30 days to review the decision or indecision on the request as the case may be

“in as much as Nigerians and global community are excited about the COVID19 vaccines, our focus is on financing as a major component of the vaccines procurement.

While Civil society groups in health interventions check the quality and equality in the vaccination, groups working around transparency must monitor the procurement process and use available tools to get the information needed for such monitoring and review.”
