A Legal Practitioner & Human Rights Activist, Mr Maxwell Opara has been honoured by his kinsmen in a very grand style in Imo State.

Mr Maxwell has bagged several awards in recent times and this present one seems to be of a great delight to him, coming from his own kinsmen.

The activist expressed his heartfelt appreciation in a statement he made available to TheNigeriaLawyer.

“Truly I’ve been honoured by different groups and organisations with about 36 awards both locally and internationally.

“Between 2nd week of December 2020 and this January 2021 alone, I ve equally received 3 awards but among all these meritorious awards and honours, the one I cherished so much is this one given to me by elderly men and women of my Umuoparaehi Kindred in Umuokazi Amuzi Ahiazu Mbaise Imo state on the 6th of January, 2021”, he said.

Meanwhile, he said he was thrilled to have been the first person to bag the award of honour.

“During the presentation of the award by the oldest man and woman in my Kindred, I was told that since the historical existence of our kindred, I am the first and only person that has been recognised with an award of Honour tagged “EZI NWANNE”.”

Besides, he stated that despite the fact that he was unavoidably late to the venue, they were so compassionate to have waited for him, as a mark of honor and an attestation to the fact that he is placed on a high premium.

“The ceremony was scheduled to take off by 3pm that day but I was able to arrive not until 7pm due to some other pressing engagements but these elderly men and women whose children are reputable well to do members of the society still stood back to wait for a small man like me just to honour me.

“The general saying is that a prophet is recognised in his village but my people has changed the narration to tell people that a Prophet can be recognized by his kinsmen.

“I am so much delighted and as usual I hereby dedicate this sacred award to God Almighty who made Heaven and Earth. To God alone be the glory”, Maxwell Opara remarked.
