Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State on Wednesday swore in three new judges into the Abia State Judiciary with a charge on them to ensure that the quick dispensation of Justice in the state is guaranteed.

He also tasked them to work towards the upgrading and dispensation of justice and rule of law to the benefit of the common man.

Ikpeazu, while speaking after the administration of the oath of allegiance on the new judges, Justice Chimezie Chido Nwakanma, Justice Philomena Onyedi Nweke and Justice Phoebe Alvan Okoronkwo by the State Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Mrs Uzoamaka Ikonne at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Umuahia said this has become necessary as the Judiciary has always been the last hope of the common man.

The governor represented by his deputy, Sir, Ude Oko Chukwu noted that, the three Judges, having successfully passed through the processes of selection up to the NJC level and approved to be sworn in as Justices of the State High Court, should abide by their oath of office to ensure that the essence of their being elevated is actualized in the state.

He used the forum to congratulate them and wished them success in the administration of justice.

Responding on behalf of his colleagues, Justice Chimezie Chido Nwakanma while expressing their gratitude to the governor and the citizens of Abia State for the trust reposed in them, promised to do their job according to the dictates of the law, adding that they would do their best to ensure that the administration and dispensation of justice in the state is carried out accordingly.

The Abia State Chief Judge, Justice Onuoha Ogwe, President of Abia State Customary Court, Justice Anyalewechi Onwuchekwa, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Chief Uche Ihediwa, amongst many others witnessed the swearing in ceremony.
