Bayo Akinlade, Esq., the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ikorodu Branch, has cleared the air on the position of his Branch regarding the endorsement of the Egbe Amofin Candidate for the position of the president of NBA.

In a statement made available to TheNigeriaLawyer (TNL) personally signed by him, Akinlade said he never endorsed any candidate neither was he invited for any meeting regarding the adoption of a candidate by Egbe Amofin.
“I have received calls concerning the adoption by EGBE AMOFIN and I will like to put the records straight.
“1. I never received any invitation as chairman of Ikorodu Branch to be part of any selection process
“2. I did not attend any EGBE AMOFIN meeting where any decision regarding having a consensus candidate,” he said
According Akinlade, each Branch Member will decide for himself which candidate to vote for because all the candidates are qualified and friends of the Branch.
“3. As a contestant in the upcoming elections I have refrained from any acts of politicking
“4. As a current chairman, I do not speak for my members regarding election matters as we now have a universal suffrage system and I appreciate that I only have one vote
“5. That all the candidates in the upcoming elections are friends of NBA Ikorodu Branch and have one time or the other impacted on the life and practice of my members at Ikorodu Branch
6. That I personally respect all the presidential candidates in the upcoming elections and will support any candidate that wins the NBA elections.”
