Some presidential aides and other prominent Nigerians who attended the burial of Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, have tested negative for COVID-19.

Kyari, who died from COVID-19 complications in. Lagos hospital on Friday, April 17, 2020, was buried on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Gudu Cemetery in Abuja.

There were outrages over the violation of social distancing precautions during the burial procedures in Abuja.

Immediately after the burial, the Health and Human Services Secretariat, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Mohammed Kawu, informed those that attended the burial have been identified and isolated.

On the same day Kyari was buried, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, confirmed the report he and some presidential staff that attended the burial were stopped from entering the State House.

But after the 14- day isolation, a statement on Sunday by the Acting Secretary, Health and Human Services Secretariat, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Mohammed Kawu said the presidential aides at the burial and others have tested negative.

According to him: “The Health and Human Services Secretariat of the FCT Administration is happy to announce that the individuals exposed during the burial of late Chief of staff to the President, Malam Abba Kyari, have completed their 14 days of isolation.

“Tests were conducted on them and they have all tested negative to COVID 19”.

Kawo said the affected persons have been reunited with their families.
