The Commissioner for Health in Ogun State, Dr Tomi Coker, on Tuesday, hinted that the state had two suspected cases of COVID-19 in the last 48 hours but have tested negative.

She said this while leading the World Health Organisation, Africa Regional Office and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control team on a working visit to the Office of the state Governor, Dapo Abiodun, in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The working visit was said to be in respect of the index Coronavirus case traced to an Italian national victim, who worked as a consultant to a company in the State.

The Commissioner, who gave updates on the state government’s readiness, said, “We have had two cases over the weekend that have proven negative, and we have also had to investigate more in the last 48 hours but they turned out to be negative cases.”

Meanwhile, Lagos State has quarantined and tested a Chinese national who arrived in the country via an Ethiopian Airline plane.

The Commissioner for Health in the state, Professor Akin Abayomi, said the Chinese has been moved to the Lagos State Isolation Centre for the novel coronavirus test.
