The Eastern Bar Forum has condemned in strong terms the flouting of the Court Order issued on Tuesday 24th September, 2019 by Hon. Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja for the immediate release of Mr. Omoyele Sowore on bail pending his arraignment.

EBF frowns at the action of the Department of State Security who has refused to release Mr. Sowore in spite of a valid court order and sees it as a call to anarchy and a prelude to a breakdown of the rule of law in Nigeria.

The Chairman of the Governing Council of the Eastern Bar Forum, S. Long Williams Esq described the continuous detention of Mr. Sowore as barbaric and a flagrant abuse of the constitution and the judicial process in Nigeria.

According to the governor, a country where agencies of government will unashamedly abuse their powers, rape the constitution and disregard constituted authority is nothing short of a country living in a Hobbesian state of nature where might is right and the strongest survives.

He called on the DSS to immediately comply with the order of court releasing Mr. Omoyele Sowore from detention and also release all political detainees being held by the security agency in flagrant disobedience of valid court orders, including Colonel Sambo Dasuki whose release has been ordered by the courts of the land.

He stressed that those in power must remember the place of history and be cautious in all actions they undertake today because the hunter may become the hunted tomorrow.
