A Human and Socio-Economic Rights Advocate, Hameed Ajibola Jimoh Esq. has expressed his displeasure over press neutrality by some platforms which claim to be non-partisan actors for educating members of the public would be used as a willing tool for political agenda. He warned that such is actionable in law.

Specifically fingering BarristerNG, Jimoh said it goes beyond the realm of journalism to falsely involve Mr Folarin Aluko in issues that don’t concern him merely because Bridget’s own husband, one Echika Ejido, nurses misplaced political ambitions.

There is only one Unity Bar and Mr Folarin Aluko is the legally elected Chairman, and he has done a lot for members of the Bar. Those who play politics of division will only end up divided a lesson Echika should have learned by now, only that some people will never learn.

Read the fully statement below:

I recently authored an article on Press Neutrality and why the media, especially Law Media need to behave responsibly.
This is an addendum to that article regarding a disturbing trend I noticed on BarristerNG

Personally, I am not comfortable that an upcoming platform such as BarristerNG which claims to be a non-partisan actor for educating members of the public would be used as a willing tool for political agenda.

As a frequent contributor, these recent trends are showing that BaristerNG was established by Bridget Edokwe among other things, to act as a cheap political tool for her husband, who is a known political opportunist who sows seeds of enmity and has no value to offer.

It goes beyond the realm of journalism to falsely involve Mr Folarin Aluko in issues that don’t concern him merely because Bridget’s own husband, one Echika Ejido, nurses misplaced political ambitions.
In case you don’t know publishing false stories is an offense in the North, and will expose you to civil suits.

For example, contrary to one of your recent stories, I was at the Federal High Court when Mr. Clement of Bwari Branch gave a moving address and Mr. Folarin congratulated him so much so that the Admin shared the speech on our platform. Her grouse is with Ezenwafor (whose antecedents we know). Why then drag Mr. Folarin into it except for deliberate mischief and malice?

For those who do not know, I wish to say that there is only one Unity Bar and Mr Folarin Aluko is the legally elected Chairman, and he has done a lot for members of the Bar. Those who play politics of division will only end up divided a lesson Echika should have learned by now, only that some people will never learn.

As a so-called media source, neutrality is a virtue, taking side and being partisan is an abuse of the public’s trust! No one will trust you again because we don’t know where the “news” ends and your husband’s politics starts.

BarristerNG, of all the things you copy from TheNigeriaLawyers, make sure you copy some neutrality and one day your blog may grow as big with more originality and hard work with less emphasis on money and politics.
Just cover the news as it is.

Till then, I hope that this would guide the barristerNG as wise counsel!

Yours sincerely,
Hameed Ajibola Jimoh Esq.
