The Akwa Ibom State Chairman,  Chief Ini Okopido, of All Progressive Congress, has lauded the leaders and members of the party for their unalloyed support and demonstration of loyalty both for the party and the Governorship candidate,  Obong Nsima Ekere, throughout the time the election Petition was going on at the State Tribunal.

Chief Ini Okopido, made this statement Friday following the judgment delivered by Akwa Ibom State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal on Thursday.

Reacting to the tribunal’s ruling Okopido said “as a law-abiding political party with confidence and trust in the Judiciary, we have taken the ruling with equanimity and instructed our lawyers to evaluate the judgement and advise the party accordingly.

“Let me seize this medium to thank leaders and members of the party for your unwavering support and tenacity to stand firm with APC during these trying moments.

” I implore our teeming supporters not to give up hope on the party but to remain faithful and steadfast trusting that we shall deploy every available judicial process to attain our quest to entrench good governance in our beloved State of Akwa Ibom,” he said.

TheNigerialawyer reported that the Akwa Ibom State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal on Thursday, 19th September 2019 delivered judgement in the petition brought before it by the APC and its Governorship candidate, Obong Nsima Ekere.

The Party had approached the Tribunal to determine the legality of the declaration by INEC of the PDP candidate, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel winner of the March 9th 2019 governorship election.

According to the state party, the election was broadly adjudged to be flawed and tainted with widespread irregularities and violence.

The Tribunal in a unanimous decision dismissed the petition amongst other reasons for lacking in merit and failure of the petitioner to prove his case.
