The Zonal Head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Gombe State, Michael Wetkas, has lamented the increasing level of cybercrime in the country.

According to him, the problem is affecting the country’s image.

Wetkas, who stated this during a town hall meeting organised by the EFCC, said computer fraud had also been endangering Nigeria’s foreign policy and programmes.

He said, “Cybercrime has become a trend in the country and it is causing a very big problem for Nigeria and Nigerians travelling or accessing services in foreign countries.

“Every email sent from Nigeria is being screened before it is delivered; we are being denied visas to other countries.”

He stressed that the anti-corruption body’s collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation would be sustained towards addressing the menace.

The Missioner, Jama’atu Nas’rul Islam, Khadi Usman Liman, stressed the importance of being God-fearing, obedient to the rule of law and collaboration with the EFCC as cardinal principles in the fight against corruption.
