The Adamawa State elections petition tribunal has thrown out a petition filed by Binta Masi Garba and Mohammed Mo-Allahyidi, all of the All Progressives Congress, seeking to upend the victory of Ishaku Abbo and Binos Yeroa of the PDP in the February 2019 senatorial elections for both northern amd southern Adamawa senatorial zones.

One of the petitioners, Masi Garba had approached the tribunal challenging the victory of Senator Cliff Abbo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election over claims of massive irregularities.

Delivering the ruling, Thursday, the lead Judge, Justice Suleiman Akanbi said the petitioner failed to produce sufficient evidence to prove her case beyond reasonable doubt prompting him to dismiss the case for lack of merit.

The petitioner had earlier alleged that the respondent was not duly elected saying the election that brought him was marred by massive irregularities.
Similarly, the tribunal has upheld the elections of the senator representing southern Adamawa, Binos Dauda Yeroe aftet it dismissed the petition filed by the former senator representing southern Adamawa, Mohammed Moallayidi.

The justice Suleiman Akombi led elections tribunal dismissed the petition of the candidate of All Progressives Party (APC), Mo-Allahyidi, over failure to provide concrete evidence to back his allegations and claims, that the election was marred with corrupt practices, rigging, irregularities and over voting.

Similarly, the tribunal dismissed the petition filed by Muktar Kabiru of Peoples Democratic Party, challenging the victory of Abdulrazak Namdas of the All Progressives Congress.

The petition filed by Olvadi Bema Madayi of the All Progressives Congress challenging the victory of Kwamoti Laori of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was also squashed by the tribunal.

Reacting to the ruling, the counsel to the Peoples Democratic Party, Adamawa state chapter, Leonard Nzadon said, “The judgement is a victory for democracy and the rule of law and parties that did not get a favourable hearing today can attest that it was fair to all parties.”

The Adamawa State Legal Adviser for the All Progressives Congress, Shagna Pwamaddi said, “The party would proceed to appeal the cases they have lost.”
