A Yenagoa based Lawyer and Human Rights Activist, Ebi Robert has petitioned the office of the Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police over an alleged assault meted on one Etasi Ruanam David by one Josiah Ngokombo.

In the petition dated the 26th day of August, 2019, it was alleged that the victim, Etasi Ruanam David visited his friend, Charity Ebele Jonathan, who is the niece to the Former President, Goodluck Jonathan, at Otueke. On visiting the said Charity in her residence, he was given the keys to the apartment when she left for school.

Being that it was about raining cat and dog, Mr. Etasi Ruanam helped to pack in the clothes of his friend (Charity Ebele Jonathan) to avoid them getting wet.

Soon, he was asked by Charity to get for her, transport fare, from her apartment which he did. It was at the point he was about getting the said money that he the said Josiah Ngokombo who is suspected to be an inspector, called Mr. Etasi and questioned him as to how he got access to the apartment.

Mr. Etasi explained that he is the friend to Charity and that he got the keys from her. More so, the said Josiah had seen Mr. Etasi several times in the compound. However, despite this explanation, Mr. Josiah asked Etasi to sit on the ground calling him a thief. Thereafter, he got a cable wire and started beating Mr. Etasi mercilessly. With the help of other soldiers, he assaulted Mr. Etasi and also bathed him with polluted water with worms.

Not only so, Mr. Josiah snapped Etasi with a phone as he was busy enjoying the whole scene of violation.

The assault has led to psychological damage to Etasi and an embarrassment to his person, the petitioner claims. According to him, Etasi was seriously battered and he has sustained severe injury.

Ebi Robert Esq., is therefore calling on the Commissioner of Police to investigate the matter and bring Mr. Josiah Ngokombo to book for assaulting an innocent citizen.

Findings reveal that Mr. Josiah Ngokombo is the personal driver to the Mother of the Fomer president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan.

Recall that Ebi Robert Esq had earlier threatened to sue Mr. Josiah for violating the right of the student.

Others copied in the petition include, the National Human Rights Commission, The Fomer President of Nigeria, and the Civil Liberty Organization.
