LIST SCHOOL CERTIFICATES ACCEPTABLE IN NIGERIA FOR ANY ELECTIONS.

Elections in Nigeria are guided by laws, and the greatest of the laws is the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Constitution provides for conditions/requirements for any Nigerian to be eligible to contest/run for an election in Nigeria. By the constitution the only needed educational condition/requirement for ANY person running for ANY election in ANY part of Nigeria is at least a school certificate level or its equivalent.

The School certificates acceptable for elations in Nigeria, are:
a. Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent
b. Grade II Teacher’s Certificate, the City and Guilds Certificate
c. Education up to Secondary School Certificate level
d. Primary Six School Leaving Certificate or its equivalent, plus any of these extra qualification, where a person possess only Primary Six School Leaving Certificate or its equivalent ;
i. Service in the public or private sector in Nigeria in any position or capacity acceptable to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
ii. Attendance at courses and training for not less than 1 year in such institutions as may be acceptable to INEC.
iii. ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English language to the satisfaction of INEC.
