The Treasurer of NBA Asaba branch, Awele Ideal Eluaka, has responded to the reaction of Mrs. Nkem Eruli-Ede on the allegations levelled against her.

In her reply, she debunked the claims by Mrs. Nkem Eruli-Ede, while stressing that nothing could be further from the truth.

Read below her unedited statement

I am writing to respond to a certain allegations, assertions and other false accusations that were made against me in an article published by Mrs Nkem Eruli-Ede (Wife of the Chairman NBA Asaba) Specifically, my response is to her frivolous allegation that i have knowledge of the persons involved in the kidnap/murder of late Kennedy Nwanshidi Esq.

In her Tirade she raised that serious allegation as part of her diversionary tactics. I found it necessary to debunk that wild claim specifically.

She stated in reference to me as follows:
” I confronted her with the fact that she has been saying she knows the killers of our dear branch member late Kennedy Nwanshidi because she said they were in her office and complained he compromised their case so threatened to deal with him and soon after he was kidnapped and killed. But she has refused to report to the relevant agencies carrying out investigation, rather has been abusing the chairman for listening to Security agencies who invited him on receiving a letter written by the chairman & secretary indicating the branch wanted to protest the kidnap & subsequent murder of the said Nwanshidi but advised we hold on with the protest in order not to jeopardise their investigation…”

My response is that nothing on earth could be further from the truth.

Therefore, I would like to provide the following information, to refute the allegations made against me.

1. First, I HAVE NEVER SAID THAT I KNOW THE KIDNAPPERS OR MURDERER(S) OF LATE KENNEDY NWANSHIDI ESQ. I NEVER SAID SO TO MRS. NKEM ERULI-EDE, NOR TO ANY OTHER PERSON AT ANY TIME.

2. Second, Even though i have never received information as to the circumstances surrounding the eventual demise of our dear departed colleague, if any such information came my way i would have long passed it to law enforcement.

3. Third, Mrs Nkem Eruli-ede claims that “she has been saying she knows the killers of our dear branch member…” I ask her therefore, what prevented her from going to the security agencies with such vital information until her mismanagement of NBA funds with her husband became an issue?

This goes to show that it is a feeble attempt by Mrs Eruli-ede to divert attention from the issue of mismanagement of NBA Asaba funds.

4. Finally, I believe the biggest problem with the statement is that by putting me in the same team with criminals, it tarnished my good reputation that I have worked extremely hard to earn.
I am very committed to preserving my reputation just as I am committed to the Bar.

There is one thing that was true in the publication; I decided to resign rather than to work with a husband and wife team who would rather pilfer Association funds than render selfless service.

Thank you.
