The Civil Societies Coalition for the Emancipation of Osun State (CSCEO) on Thursday September 10, described the fresh query issued to Justice Olamide Folahanmi Oloyede over her petition against Governor Rauf Aregbesola as misleading and bias on the part of the National Judicial Council (NJC).

Oloyede’s petition called for the removal of the state governor, Mr. Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, and his deputy, Mrs. Grace Titilayo Laoye-Tomori, over an alleged maladministration and gross financial misconduct.

The NJC first tried the judge and absolved her of the allegations of husband snatching leveled against her by some people believed to be sponsored by the state government after the House of Assembly threw out her petition against the governor and his deputy.

CSCEO’s chairman, Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman, who spoke on behalf of the group, declared that the authors of the purported petition were the agents of Mr. Aregbesola and that they were sent out to deceive the NJC to nail Justice Oloyede at all cost for “summoning uncommon courage to write a petition against Aregbesola’s deceitful government.”

Sulaiman stated that Mr. Waheed Lawal, the leader of the 3-man team that signed the purported petition to the NJC, was the immediate past Senior Special Assistant on public and civil matter to Mr. Aregbesola and leader of an alleged fake contingent election observers that were arrested by the men of Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in Imo State during the November 16, 2013 governorship election in Anambra State, when Mr. Aregbesola sent them to disrupt the peaceful election in that state before the long arm of law caught them unawares in a hotel where they were planning their evil acts against the people of Anambra State.

The CSCEO boss furtherrevealed that Mr. Sikiru Adebayo Bello, another signatory to the new petition as secretary, was having a murder case on his neck since September, 2010 as the prime suspect in the case that had to do with the life of one Comrade Amitolu Shittu over the Ataoja Obaship tussle that erupted the state in that year.

The third person, Ismael Uthman, that signed the petition as publicity secretary, is a serving reporter in Aregbesola’s local media outfit in the State.

This, according to Suleiman, was the reason why the state government that was promoting the query in the media was silent on the names of some of the signatories because they are people of questionable characters.

“It is very unfortunate that Mr. Aregbesola, through his cronies misled the public, particularly the respected apex body of benchers, the National Judicial Council (NJC) to issue a query wrongly to the courageous Justice Olamide Folahanmi Oloyede, not knowing that those who signed the petition are direct beneficiaries of Mr Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola’s government.

“It also a surprise to the people of Osun state, especially members of CSCEO that the National Judicial Council (NJC) can act on the purported petition of the Osun Civil Societies Coalition OCSC without investigating the petitioners as stipulated in the revised ‘2014 national judicial council discipline regulations’ to know the veracity of their genuineness.

“NJC has seen now that Mr. Rauf Aregbesola and his cronies are all out to destroy Justice Oloyede for no just cause than speaking the truth to Mr. Aregbesola, said Suleiman.
