In a bid to promote effectiveness and facilitate active development among staff, the Lagos State Judiciary has established a training institute to update workers on recent developments in the judiciary, as well as expose them to international best practices so as to ensure their relevance in a 21st Century Judiciary.

The establishment of the Lagos State Judicial Training Institute will promote capacity building by strengthening the skills of all levels of staff.

While commissioning the training institute, the Lagos State Chief Judge, Justice Opeyemi Oke, said the initiative is pursuant to the Lagos State Judicial Institute Law 2007 to serve as the principal focal point of judicial activities relating to the promotion of efficiency, uniformity and improvement in the quality of judicial services in the superior and inferior courts in the state.

The commissioning of the Lagos State Judiciary establishment was held on Tuesday at the Lagos State Judiciary Establishment Institute, Ikeja.

In her welcome speech the CJ noted that the institute was charged with: conducting courses for all categories of judicial officers and supporting staff of the Lagos State Judiciary with a view to expanding their overall knowledge and performance.

“It will also provide continuing education for all categories of judicial officers by undertaking, organizing, conducting and facilitating studies, courses, seminars lectures, workshops, conferences and other programmes related to Judicial education.

Organising once in two (2) years a conference for all Lagos Senior Judges of superior and inferior courts respectively.
