While Belgore is vying on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Abubakar and Ahman-Pategi are aspiring under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party. Oniyangi is aspiring under the National Progressives Movement. Belgore on Sunday said it was time Kwara State reclaimed its rightful place as a first generation state. Abubakar, while declaring his intention in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, stated that Kwara State could be better. He said if he emerged the PDP governorship candidate and eventually won the election, he would focus on job creation, poverty alleviation, youth and infrastructural development as well boosting agriculture and improving on the security of lives and property in the state. Ahman-Pategi said the people of the state would be his primary focus. He said if he became the governor, he would establish state employment and labour agency. Oniyangi said youth development, education, the infrastructural provision as well as health and education would be some of his focal points He cautioned against violence and called on all stakeholders to be law-abiding. In a related development, another APC governorship aspirant in the state, Mallam Saliu Mustapha, expressed support for the decision of the party to adopt a direct primary in picking its candidate for the gubernatorial election. Meanwhile, a Kwara State governorship aspirant of the PDP, Chief Femi Sanni, has withdrawn from the governorship race for the 2019 elections. Sanni, in a statement by the Publicity Secretary, Femi Sanni 2019 Campaign Office, Mr Olayinka Yusuf, said he withdrew for personal reason and as a sacrifice for the PDP and Nigeria’s democracy. Sanni said, “After due consultation, I wish to formally make public my decision to withdraw from the gubernatorial race for personal reasons and as a sacrifice which I believe is in the interest of my political career patiently built for several years, for that of the PDP and our nascent democracy.”]]>
