* Nura Iliyasu Protest Reflects the Hardship Faced By Majority of Nigerians * Nura Iliyasu’s Action Is Legal By law * Ex-Finance Minister, Not the first to resign voluntarily The immediate past 2nd Vice President of the Nigerian Bar Association, M. O. Ubani Esq., has said that the commendable resignation of the the ex minister of finance, Kemi Adeosun, is not such a big news to him. According to him, many patriots have resigned from public office in Nigeria before, therefore, her celebrated resignation is certainly not the first and will never be the last. To him, the fundamental question before us all is whether her resignation amounts to enough atonement. Speaking further, he said that what should interest Nigerians more is the whereabout of Nura Iliyasu. In a statement released under his hand earlier today and made available to TheNigerialawyer (TNL), Mr. Ubani also posed some heart striking questions that should be considered with regards to the legality of Iliyasu’s act. ”What should interest Nigerians more is the whereabout of Nura Iliyasu, the famous 28 year old undergraduate who protested about the general hardship in the country and deprecated the unpardonable docility of the majority of Nigerians in the country. ”After his brilliant interview where he articulated his sound views in flawles,s English he was led away by a team of security agents.” Mr. Ubani in quest for answers asked to know about his safety and whether he is not under any torture or harassment; he also asked to know whether it is well understood when the young Nura said that he is not under any mental disability or malfunction, adding that, it is his constitutional duty to have acted the way he did. Among others, he is also seeking for the unconditional release of the brave Nura, stressing that his boldness is a reflection of the hardship collectively faced by majority of Nigerians. ”Hope the authorities have noted that what the young man has done is unprecedented and a general reflection of the feelings of majority of Nigerians who are undergoing economic torture and deprivation under the current hardship generally experienced in the country due to economic mismanagement of Nigeria by the current government in power? Hope the current government in power will really appraise themselves and be sincere enough to admit and redress the hardship fast to avoid more Nuras taking one drastic step or another to draw the attention of the government in power? ”Hope Mr. Iliyasu shall be released unconditionally without hurt or prosecution for the legitimate steps he took to draw the attention of the government to the hardship in the land? And Hope his release should be very soon as expected, maybe this week or maximum next week?” he asked. He therefore asked Nigerians to wake up to the call whilst noting that news about his where about is needed. TheNigerialawyer (TNL) recalls that Mr. Nura Iliyasu had few days ago climbed a telecommunication mast belonging to Airtel, in protest of the economic hardship faced by Nigerians under the current administration.]]>
