Erudite Professor of Law and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Ernest Ojukwu has reacted to the news of Police invasion of the Umuneke Ngor Magistrate Court, Imo State. The renowned NBA Presidential Aspirant in his strong-worded reaction stated that the Nigerian Police has simply crossed the red line. According to him, this is the reason why the Bar requires to decisively engage with the Police Institution, adding that this is a clear signal of anarchy in the country. TheNigerialawyer (TNL) recalls that the Assistant Secretary/ Ag Publicity Secretary of Owerri branch of the NBA, Chinedu Agu, had earlier charged lawyers to fight this fight as the Spartans, whilst describing the harassment of the Magistrate, and arrest and detention of two lawyers, Emma Eke and Chukwuemeka Anyanwu as the last straw that broke the camel’s back. This seems to obviously show that the wind of assault from the Nigerian Police is nicely blowing to the bench, being that the invasion of the Umuneke Ngor Magistrate Court at Imo State is one of such invasions reported of late.
