*Says Education As Catalyst For Boosting The Self-image Of The African Child Is A Timely Topic
*Says Sadly Students Are Still At Home Due To ASUU Strike

A member of the Nigerian Bar Association Welfare Committee, Auta Nyada, has congratulated the International Federation of Women Lawyers [FIDA] Nigeria, Lagos Branch, over her annual Law Week which is set to kick off on Tuesday, 14th June, 2022.

The Law Week is holding at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Kofo Abayomi, Victoria Island, Lagos with the theme “Education as a catalyst for boosting the self-image of the African Child”.

Nyada said the theme of the week has come at the right time. But sadly, according to him, the topic will be discussed when students are still at home due to the ongoing strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

“Permit me as an ardent follower and supporter of this body, to congratulate the leadership of your branch for convening this gathering with the theme “Education as a catalyst for boosting the self image of the African Child”.

Indeed, there would not have been a better time to discuss such an incisive and compelling issue than now.

“This becomes even more fundamental at a time when our schools are under lock and key and the prospect of students returning back to school remains bleak.” Nyada said

He therefore wished FIDA a fruitful deliberations during the week and hoped that other issues such as rape, female inheritance and the like will be discussed during the event

He said, “Given the fact that FIDA has championed some notable courses like Rape, Domestic Violence, Female Genital Mutilation, Female Inheritance, Affirmative Action and other gender based issues in the past, it is my sincere hope that your pragmatic, articulate and impactful approach in discussing this vexed issue at this year’s law week will open the frontier of further discussions on the issue.

In the main time, I wish the FIDA Lagos branch fruitful deliberations and a successful law week.

Once again, actor my hearty congratulations!”

The annual Law Week of FIDA is held in commemoration of the United Nations 2022 International Day for the African Child and it offers FIDA a great opportunity to continue with campaigns and various activities to improve the literacy, health, and economic well-being of women and children in Nigeria.
