In a statement issued which was made available to TheNigeriaLawyer, the Governor expressed his delight in view of the synergy between the two arms of government.

“Earlier today, with my dear wife, we graced the Eucharistic Service marking the commencement of the 2020-2021 Anambra State Judicial Year at the Cathedral Church of St Faith, Awka.

“As we appreciate the cordial relationship amongst the Executive, Legislative and the Judiciary Arms of Government in Anambra; it’s our desire to see the State Judiciary working steadfastly to reduce the congestion of cases and facilitate speedy trials thereby ensuring quick dispensation of justice and discharge of inmates awaiting trials”.

In addition, the Governor has announced the procurement of 25 stenographic machines for Courts and the establishment of a juvenile facility at Umunze, Anambra.

“In view of that, I announced the procurement of twenty-five stenographic machines, in the first instance, for twenty-five different courts across the State to hasten speedy recording of course proceedings.

“I also announced the establishment of Juvenile Correctional and Rehabilitation facility at Umunze, Anambra State to ensure effective management and rehabilitation of young offenders so as to avoid mixing them up with hardened criminals.”

Meanwhile, the Governor stated that his administration is committed to ensuring that the welfare of the Judiciary in the State is placed on a very high premium.

“Our administration will continue to prioritize the welfare of the Judiciary in spite of the lean resources of the State as is already exemplified by the payment of salary, pension and gratuities, as and when due.”
