The Emerging Leaders Forum of Nigeria (ELFON) has voiced its criticism of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu’s recent fabric unveiling exercise, labeling it as a “directionless misplaced priority.” Ambassador Godstime Samuel, the national leader of ELFON and convener of Project Unity Nigeria, believes that the resources invested in the unity fabric could have been better utilized for national orientation and poverty alleviation programs.

In a statement released by ELFON, Godstime Samuel emphasized that mere fabrics cannot unite Nigerians, stating, “As far as Nigerians are concerned, it is obvious we are more united now than ever by Petrol Pump price, Hunger, Hardship, etc.” He suggested that the funds used to produce the unity fabric could have been allocated to create 400 million national unity exercise books, which could be distributed to 40 million Nigerian primary and junior secondary school students as they resume their studies. The exercise books, he proposed, could feature the new national anthem and other educational content on the back page.

ELFON’s criticism highlights the growing concerns among Nigerians about the priorities of the government in addressing the pressing issues of disunity, poverty, and hardship faced by the citizens. The organization believes that practical solutions and initiatives that directly impact the lives of Nigerians should take precedence over symbolic gestures like the unity fabric.

Project Unity Nigeria, led by Godstime Samuel, aims to promote unity, peace, and patriotism among Nigerians through various national campaigns and initiatives. The organization has been actively advocating for a more focused approach to tackling the challenges that hinder national unity and progress.

As the debate surrounding the unity fabric initiative continues, ELFON urges the government to reassess its priorities and allocate resources towards programs that can effectively address the root causes of disunity and alleviate the hardships faced by Nigerians. The organization believes that by investing in education, poverty alleviation, and national orientation, the government can foster a more united and prosperous Nigeria.
