Garba Manu, a divisional Crime Officer on the 19th April, 2017 was accused of luring Maryam Yusuf into his apartment, thereby raping her. The lawyer, Mr Muhammad, who stormed into the case, and took it up as pro bona informed thenigerialawyer that “since the incident occurred, the medical report has been obtained, statements from relevant and vital witnesses has also been obtained at the Illela Divisional police office but for 6 days after the incident the divisional police officer has decided to compound the problem by neglecting, failing and refusing to take appropriate action over the case or even to make findings available to the victim’s parents” Speaking with Muhammad Esq, he reliably informed thenigerialawyer that on 25th April, he wrote to the Commissioner of Police, Sokoto, who in response, stated that a petition has been written to the Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 10 Sokoto to take over the case and to do justice.
