According to the information made available to Thenigerialawyer, the former Chief Judge allegedly used his position to confer unfair advantage to himself by inviting Prince Arthur Eze, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Oranto Petroleum Limited. The EFCC claimed in the charge sheet that Prince Arthur Eze, was a litigant in pending and concluded civil matters in Suit No. E/388/2010; Prince Arthur Eze V Diamond Bank Plc and E/147/2012; Prince Arthur Eze V Major Concept Ltd, cases presided over by the Former CJ, Umezuluike Innocent. The former judge according to the EFCC, allegedly received the sum of ten million naira (10,000,000) from Prince Arthur Eze for the launch of a book titled ” ABC of Contemporary Land law in Nigeria ,” which was written by the former Chief Judge. The EFCC also claimed that the ten million naira (10,000,000) was donated by Fidelity Bank Plc Cheque drawn in the account or Oranto Petroleum Ltd. The EFCC in their claim further stated that Justice Innocent Umezulike also accepted the said sum of 10,000,000, which he paid into his Zenith Bank Plc account.
