The prosecutor, Mr. Oyebanji Oluseye, told the court that the convict, Rasaki Raji, committed the offence in the Idi-Oro area of Apete community, Ibadan, in 2014. In the charge sheet, with suit number Mi/544/2016, which spelt out two counts against Raji, the nonagenarian was accused of obtaining the sum of N150,000 from his victim under the pretext of helping her to purchase half plot of land in Apete community. The prosecutor stated that instead of honouring the agreement entered into with the victim, Raji converted the money to personal use. Oluseye told the court that the act was tantamount to stealing under the law. Oluseye, said, “The offences contravened sections 419 and 390(9), of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol. II, Law of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.” In her ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Giwa Babalola, found Raji guilty as charged.
