Legal luminary and former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lagos Branch, Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, SAN, has urged young lawyers across the country to be bold, intentional, and forward-thinking in shaping the future of the legal profession and the society at large.

Akangbe delivered the charge in a goodwill message to the NBA Young Lawyers’ Forum, Garki Branch, on the occasion of its 2025 Annual Law and Inclusive Development Summit, themed “Setting the Pace.”

Describing young lawyers as the “engine room of renewed innovation and astute advocacy,” Akangbe emphasized that they must not be content to sit on the sidelines. “Young lawyers must lead the charge for a more progressive Bar and a better society. You stand to gain the most from the reforms you help to shape today,” he declared.

He called on the emerging generation of legal professionals to embrace vision, purpose, and effort in building the future they desire. “Remember, no one features in a future they fail to picture or fight for. Now is the time to be intentional, to put in the work, and to dream,” he stated.

Commending the leadership of the NBA Garki Branch Young Lawyers’ Forum, Akangbe encouraged participants to stay committed to setting the pace in thought leadership and professional excellence.

“The future is watching, and it belongs to you,” he concluded.
