Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, SAN, FCIArb (UK), and former Chairman of the NBA Lagos Branch, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Warri Branch as it marks 100 years of legal practice in Warri.
In his goodwill message, Akangbe paid tribute to the trailblazing legacy of Hon. Asifo Egbe, who was called to the Bar in 1925 and is widely regarded as the pioneer of legal practice in Warri. He described the centenary celebration as not only a moment of pride but also a powerful reminder of the foundational values of justice and purpose that have guided the branch through a century of professional excellence.
Quoting Lord Denning, Akangbe noted, “The law must not stand still like a pond, but flow like a river—bringing justice to all.” He added, “Hon. Egbe was the fountainhead of that river in Warri, setting it in motion with courage and clarity of purpose.”
He further encouraged members of the Warri Bar to continue upholding the values of wisdom, honour, and service to society, stating, “This centenary is a celebration of that living legacy. May the Warri Bar continue to grow in wisdom, honour, and purpose as you carry the torch forward.”
Akangbe concluded his message with a warm congratulation to the branch on reaching this remarkable milestone.
