Chairman NBA Welfare Committee, Yakubu. Chonoko Maikyau SAN, has Commiserated with members of the Nigerian Bar Association Abuja, Orlu, and Isialangwa Branches, over their grave losses.
NBA Abuja branch on Wednesday 15th, announced the demise of her chair lady, Dr. Hauwa. E. Shekarau, after a brief illness.
On Tuesday, 16th, NBA Orlu lost the Publicity Secretary, CD Darlington Odume
who was shot in the chest at close range by men of underworld, who trailed him to a supermarket at Amaifeke in Orlu, in the Orlu Local Government Area of the state.
On Monday, 20th, another tragedy hit Eastern Bar Forum, when it announced the passing on of the Chairman, NBA Isialangwa branch, Ben Nwachukwu.
Maikyau, SAN, in his condolence message on Thursday, described them as “very grave losses.”
“I received with concern and deep sense of loss; the recent posts/news that awash both the print and electronic media of the passing on of some of our colleagues, and Bar Leaders which includes but not limited to: the late Dr.(Mrs.) Hauwa Shekarau who was the Chairman Abuja Branch, late Mr. Ben Nwachukwu who was the Chairman of Isialangwa Branch and late Mr. C. D. Omekagu, who was the Publicity Secretary of Orlu Branch of the NBA.
“This is certainly grave losses and a challenging moment especially, for the Nigerian Bar Association, given their invaluable inputs so far and the long interactive years shared with these heroes, particularly Dr. (Mrs) Shekarau who was Chairman of my branch.
“I must at this period; encourage the entire members of the NBA and the families of the deceased persons in particular, to take solace in the fact that these great Lawyers have led a pious lifestyle of selfless service to the Bar and humanity in general and have bequeathed credible legacies worthy of emulation.
“In this regard, I hereby extend my condolences to the families of the deceased persons and the entire members of NBA over these untimely losses. I pray that the Almighty God shall continue to strengthen us all and grant the entire members of NBA the grace and fortitude to bear these irreparable losses as we grapple with the realities of the inevitability of Death.
