The suspects arrested for the attempted invasion of the residence of Senator Sani Musa (Niger East) have confessed they planned to kidnap the Senator.

They thought the Senator would be at home having attended the coronation ceremony of the Emir of Kagara that Saturday.

Niger Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Abiodun Wasiu in a statement said that the intention to kidnap the Senator was additional information that emerged in the course of the investigation.

“Niger State Police Command wishes to state that additional facts emerged in the course of the investigation, as one of the suspects confessed further that the hoodlums led by the said Sherrif, presently at large targeted the Senator to his home in Minna.

“The hoodlums suspected that he could be at home, having attended a coronation ceremony at Kagara on the same date, and possibly kidnap him.

“Fortunately, the gang met his absence, broke into the house, and ransacked the residence in the pretense of the purported search execution in the residence,” he said.

Wasiu said the investigation was in progress as efforts are being made to apprehend other members of the gang adding that further development will be made public.

Over the weekend, four suspects were arrested among a gang of fake search taskforce who invaded the residence of the Senator in Minna.
