The Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, on Saturday, lashed out at soldiers who mounted roadblock at Amansea area of the state. Amansea, which is the boundary between Anambra and Enugu states, has become notorious in recent times for chaotic gridlocks where motorists are subjected to various inhumane treatment by the too many roadblocks mounted by the soldiers.
Ibezim, who stormed the area along with his aides, asked the soldiers to dismantle the sand bags and drums used to block the expressway, warning them not to create traffic problems for commuters.
He said, “We must be sane in this country.
I don’t want you to be causing hardship for my people. I have worked in the Directorate of Defence and this is not what the Army stands for.”
He controlled the traffic for some time before he left the scene.
