Use Of Siren In Nigeria Is Prohibited

In Nigeria, the use of sirens, flashers and beacon lights on any public road is prohibited.

EXCEPTIONS
1. President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria;

2.Vice President of Nigeria;

3.President of the Senate;

4.Speaker of the House of Representatives;

5.Chief Justice of Nigeria;

6.Deputy President of the Senate;

7.Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives;

8.Governors;

9. Deputy Governors of States.

However, in cases of emergency, military, para-military agencies, Fire Service and ambulances are allowed to drive on public roads using sirens.

Emergency situation are:
(a) rescue;
(b) pursuit;
(c) fire service;
(d) war or period of unrest;

PENALTY
Fine of N10,000 or 6 months imprisonment or both
