The National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN) has officially declared its 2026 Easter Vacation, during which normal court sittings will be suspended across all divisions.

In a Vacation Notice issued on February 23, 2026, and signed by the Honourable President of the Court, Hon. Justice B. B. Kanyip, PhD, OFR, FNIALS, FCTI, FCIArb, bpa, the court will observe Easter Vacation from Monday, March 30, 2026, to Friday, April 10, 2026.

The notice, issued pursuant to Order 58 Rule 4(1)(b) of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2017, states that there will be no normal court sittings during this period. Normal sittings are scheduled to resume on Monday, April 13, 2026.

The announcement emphasizes that the vacation period is exercised under the powers conferred on the President of the Court and other enabling provisions.

This year’s Easter Vacation coincides with the Christian observance of Easter, which falls in late March to early April 2026, and follows the court’s established practice of observing seasonal recesses while making arrangements for urgent or essential matters under the rules.

Stakeholders, including litigants, legal practitioners, and court users, are advised to take note of the dates to avoid scheduling conflicts and to plan accordingly for pending matters. Urgent applications or matters requiring immediate attention during the vacation may be handled in line with the court’s vacation protocols, though routine proceedings will not take place.
