Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama, SAN, former Chairman of the Mentoring Committee of the Body of Benchers, has congratulated the newly called lawyers, widely known as “new wigs,” on their successful call to the Nigerian Bar.

In a statement of goodwill, Chief Gadzama described their call to the Bar as a landmark achievement, reflecting years of dedication, sacrifice, and resilience. He noted that while this milestone is a personal triumph, it also marks the beginning of a sacred responsibility within the legal profession.

The respected Senior Advocate urged the new entrants to uphold honour, discipline, and integrity, describing these values as the bedrock of the legal profession. He emphasized that the Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners should serve as their guiding framework, likening it to a “hymn book” for every step in legal practice.

“Success at the Bar is not measured by flamboyance or fleeting triumphs but by consistency in learning, humility in service, and an unwavering commitment to justice. Never compromise the values of honesty and diligence, for they are the pillars upon which lasting legacies are built,” Chief Gadzama stated.

He further encouraged the new lawyers to seek mentorship and wise counsel, reminding them that while the road ahead will be demanding, perseverance will yield long-term rewards.

Chief Gadzama concluded by congratulating the new entrants once again and welcoming them into the honourable family of the legal profession.
