– Accuses Nigeria Custom Of Assault And Molestation.
– Demands Release Of Seized Phone Containing Very Sensitive Information

A UK based lawyer, Eugene Ukhabi Esq has through his counsels threatened to the Nigeria Customs Service (NSC) over the assault of his person and seizure of his phone.

In a pre-action notice, Franked by Proches Legal and directed at the Controller Generate of Customs, UKhabi alleged that officials of the agency molested him when he demanded to know “why his passport requirement for his luggage to be searched, and his request was met by refusal” and detention by men of the agency.

Ukhabi also demanded that his phone be returned to him in “good shape to enable him to have access to very important sensitive information which has been denied since his phone has been illegally detained by men of the Nigeria Customs Service.”

The UK-based Nigerian lawyer had made a “video of his bags as evidence so he could leave the airport to prevent any heated argument or tension”, but rather was “pounced upon by about 7 (Seven) customs officers who molested and assaulted him and then seized his phone.”

At a second attempt to retrieve his phone, on Friday the 12th August 2022, a day after the molestation and assault, he was informed that no entry of the incident keyed into the records, after an initial denial of knowledge of the incident, “but when told by our client he would escalate the situation by legal means, he was then invited to the Customs post and asked to make a statement after which his phone was still not released to him despite his requests.

The delay, the complaint noted led to “unnecessary delay at the airport by men of the Nigeria Customs Service caused our client to miss his scheduled flight to Benin city for 1:30 pm.”
