With just three days to go, anticipation is mounting for the Annual Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lawyers with Disabilities Forum (LWDF). Titled “Beyond Triumphs: Advancing Inclusion, Impact & Leadership for Persons with Disabilities,” the two-day hybrid event is set to convene lawyers, policymakers, and advocates dedicated to breaking barriers and promoting equity in Nigeria’s justice system. Scheduled for November 25–26, 2025, at the Southend Event Centre, DBS Road, Asaba, Delta State, the conference comes at a critical moment for the enforcement of disability rights in the country.

Led by Chairperson Patience Nkeonyeasua Etumudon, the LWDF NBA’s pioneering platform for empowering lawyers with disabilities selected Asaba for its symbolic significance. “Asaba’s tranquility, cultural richness, and accessibility make it the perfect backdrop for decentralizing conversations on inclusion,” Etumudon noted in a recent Instagram reel, highlighting the forum’s mission to amplify voices nationwide and move inclusive discourse beyond Nigeria’s major urban centers.

Conference Highlights:

Day 1 – November 25: Delegates will arrive and register throughout the day, culminating in a Welcome Cocktail and Sip-and-Paint Experience from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the NBA Asaba Branch Secretariat (Ned Nwoko Hall, By Cenotaph Off High Court Road). The smart-casual networking event is designed to foster early connections in a relaxed and creative atmosphere.

Day 2 – November 26: The program shifts to substantive discussions, featuring three key sessions:

  • Plenary Session I: Breaking Barriers – Legal Frameworks, Accessibility, and Inclusion (11:30 AM)
This session will examine Nigeria’s disability rights landscape, focusing on the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act, lessons from global best practices, and the legal profession’s role in advancing accessibility reforms.
  • Plenary Session II: Leadership Redefined – Empowering Lawyers with Disabilities to Shape Policy and Drive Change
Highlighting mentorship, inclusive workplace policies, success stories, and stakeholder collaboration, this session will equip participants with tools to effect systemic change.
  • Showcase Session: Innovations Beyond Triumph – Stories, Technologies, and Pathways Transforming Disability Inclusion
An interactive segment featuring assistive technology demonstrations, impact narratives from lawyers with disabilities, partnership pitches, and solutions addressing accessibility challenges.
