In a response issued by the Board of Directors and Shareholders of Swift Network on Friday, 21st July, the board admits knowledge of the Ex-parte Injunction issued against it but claims neither Union Bank nor the court has involved them before the injunction was granted; claiming also that the allegation was false.

Recall that the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has on 19th July, granted Union Bank Plc. an interim order of Mareva Injunction restraining Swift Networks Limited from accessing its monies up to the tune of N7, 037,410,548.23 in 25 banks pending the determination of an alleged debt recovery suit which was filed by Union Bank.

According to the board, in its memo titled “RE: ALLEGED DEBT – EX PARTE INJUNCTION RESTRAINING SWIFT NETWORKS LIMITED” it claimed that:

We wish to state that the allegations that formed the basis of this Ex parte injunction are false and baseless, and as such, we shall be rigorously opposing the Ex parte order in court while also trying to reach an amicable resolution with Union Bank. We were not informed by Union Bank, nor did the Court hear our own side before this injunction was granted.”

While pursuing better means to resolve the disputes, the firms further “wish to reassure our esteemed customers and stakeholders that our services continue to run 24/7 and we can still be reached through any of our channels” hence, trying to cushion out panic and frivolous concern which might have risen out of the injunction.

The Presiding Judge, Hon. Justice Daniel Osiagor had also adjourned the case till September 27 for hearing of the Motion on Notice which involves Union bank and 25 other banks. In the interim, the firm stated that it can be reached via its website: www.swiftng.com, or its head office located at 31 Saka Tinubu street, Victoria Island, Lagos or its phone line: 01-7101010.
