Chief Justice of Nigeria, W.S.N. Onnoghen, has charged lawyers in Nigeria to comply with the NLES directive by registering with the Nigeria Legal Email System, as the Apex Court is keen on implementing same. As earlier announced by the Court’s Information Desk, date for its enforcement is July, 16th. 2018 In furtherance of the directive, the CJN has issued a notice asking lawyers to forward some vital details to register with the system. Below reads the notice: ”All registered lawyers who have cases in the Supreme Court of Nigeria are required henceforth to forward the following details using their NIGERIA LEGAL EMAIL ADDRESS (xyz@nigerianbar.ng) to scn.lit.reg@courts.gov.ng: 1. Case number 2. Parties 3Party Type- Appellant or Respondent 4.Counsel Email 5.Counsel Telephone Number Every lawyer is required to visit http:/legalmail.nigerianbar.ng/ to register for the Nigeria Legal Email System.” TheNigerialawyer (TNL) recalls that the Nigerian Chief Justice had earlier called for the electronic mailing system for transfer of information during the launch of the Retrofitted Court and Legal Email System, in February at the Supreme Court.
