The General Council of the Bar has called on members of the legal profession in Nigeria to submit memoranda for the ongoing review of the Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners, 2023.

This was disclosed in an official notice issued by Kunle Edun, SAN, the Co-Ordinator of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Representatives on the General Council of the Bar.

The review process, being conducted in line with the powers vested in the Council by Section 12(4) of the Legal Practitioners Act, Cap L11, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, follows consultations with the President of the NBA and is aimed at strengthening professional standards within the legal profession.

The notice invites legal practitioners across the country to contribute meaningfully to the review by submitting memoranda that highlight specific provisions of the current Rules requiring revision or improvement.

All submissions must:

  • Be typed on A4 paper;
  • Use font size 14; and
  • Clearly identify and number the proposed areas for review.

Memoranda should be addressed to the Secretary, Precious Nwadimuya, Esq., and must be submitted via email to thenbagcb@gmail.com no later than 15 July 2025.
