The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) has called on all qualified candidates vying for positions in the upcoming Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) elections to submit their campaign materials for publication in the committee’s online magazine.

In a press release dated May 19th, 2024, the ECNBA stated that this directive is in accordance with Part IV(11) and V(7) of the Second Schedule of the NBA Constitution of 2015, as amended in 2021.

The ECNBA’s online magazine aims to provide NBA members with detailed information about the candidates’ visions, qualifications, and aspirations for their desired roles within the association.

Candidates have been instructed to submit a compiled file containing their curriculum vitae (not exceeding four A4-size pages) and a comprehensive manifesto. These materials should be emailed to info@ecnba.org by 12 noon on Friday, May 24th, 2024.

However, the committee emphasized that this invitation does not signal the commencement of campaigns. Candidates are strictly prohibited from engaging in any form of campaigning until the ECNBA lifts the ban on such activities. Violators risk summary disqualification from the electoral process.

In the coming days, the ECNBA is expected to release comprehensive campaign guidelines, which all candidates and their supporters must adhere to, in order to ensure a fair and transparent election.

The NBA elections are scheduled to hold later this year, with members across the country set to elect new leaders to steer the affairs of the influential professional body for the next few years.
