The President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, has led a delegation of the Association on a courtesy visit to the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice of Anambra State, Mr. Tobechukwu Nweke, SAN.

The visit formed part of activities lined up ahead of the NBA National Executive Council, NEC, meeting scheduled to hold on Thursday, May 7, 2026, in Awka, Anambra State.

The courtesy visit was part of the NBA’s ongoing engagement with key stakeholders in the justice sector, aimed at strengthening institutional relationships, promoting collaboration, and deepening reforms in the administration of justice.

During the meeting, the NBA delegation and the Anambra State Ministry of Justice discussed areas of cooperation between the Bar and the Ministry, with particular emphasis on justice sector reform, efficient justice delivery, access to justice, and the promotion of the rule of law.

Speaking during the visit, Osigwe stressed the importance of sustained synergy between the Bar and government institutions in driving meaningful reforms in the justice system.

He noted that collaboration between the NBA and key justice sector institutions was necessary to enhance public confidence in the legal system and ensure that citizens have better access to justice.

According to him, the Bar has a critical role to play in supporting reforms that strengthen institutions, improve justice delivery, and uphold the rule of law, both in Anambra State and across the country.

The NBA President also commended the Anambra State Attorney-General for his dedication to legal excellence and progressive justice administration.

The delegation was warmly received by Nweke, SAN, who reaffirmed the commitment of the Anambra State Ministry of Justice to upholding legal professionalism and strengthening the justice system.

The Attorney-General also expressed the Ministry’s readiness to support initiatives that advance the administration of justice and promote cooperation with the Bar.

Osigwe expressed appreciation to the Attorney-General and the Ministry for the warm reception accorded the NBA delegation.

He said the visit reflected the Association’s commitment to constructive engagement with justice sector stakeholders at both state and national levels.

The courtesy visit is one of several activities scheduled ahead of the NBA NEC meeting in Awka.

The NEC meeting is expected to bring together leaders of the Bar from across the country to deliberate on issues affecting the legal profession, justice administration, institutional reform, and national development.
