The Senior Pastor and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has warned his congregation to be extremely cautious about who they share sensitive financial information with, following the dramatic testimony of a church member who survived a brazen armed robbery attack in Minna, Niger State, shortly after withdrawing ₦9 million from a bank.

Speaking during a church service after listening to the testimony of David Emmanuel Adebayo, Apostle Suleman told the congregation that the speed and precision with which the robbers attacked strongly suggested that someone close to the victim had tipped them off about the withdrawal.

“You know, listen, listen. We should be very careful of the people we give information to. Because for robbers to wait, waiting for you to come out, it means somebody already told them,” the clergyman cautioned.

Apostle Suleman disclosed that a video of the incident had gone viral on social media and had been sent to him earlier that morning, but that he had not initially realised the man in the video was a member of his church.

“When I saw the video, I didn’t even know it was him. The first thing I saw, they sent the video to me this morning. I said the first thing, whoever this man is, somebody tipped them off about this place,” the Apostle revealed.

While commending Adebayo for surviving the ordeal, Apostle Suleman reminded the congregation of the supremacy of life over material wealth.

“But brother, thank God for your life. Money comes, money goes, but life is very important. Let’s give God the glory,” he said to thunderous applause from the congregation.

Adebayo, who was invited to the front of the church to share his testimony, narrated the harrowing sequence of events in vivid detail. According to him, the attack occurred on a Friday, within minutes of his leaving a bank in Minna, Niger State, where he had withdrawn ₦9 million in cash.

“On Friday, I went to the bank in Minna to make a withdrawal of nine million naira. So immediately I left the bank, no more than ten minutes later, armed robbers came to attack me, well armed,” he told the congregation.

Adebayo said he had already started his car when two armed men suddenly appeared—one on his left and one on his right—and confronted him. The robbers seized his money.

“So immediately I was about to start, I had already started my car, I just saw two armed men, one on my left, one on my right, they came to attack me. So they went away with my money,” he recounted.

What happened next, according to Adebayo, was an act he attributes entirely to divine intervention. He said that on the day of the attack, he was observing a fast, and that he began praying in tongues immediately after the robbers took his money. Emboldened, he moved directly towards one of the armed men and disarmed him, seizing the robber’s firearm.

“So as they went with my money, I was praying in tongues because that day I was fasting. I was fasting. So I now went directly to meet one of them. God gave me the grace. I collected the ammunition. They were firing at me,” he said.

At this point in the testimony, Apostle Suleman interjected, visibly stunned, to confirm the account. “Wait, wait, wait… cover me. Are you the man that took gun from armed robbers?” the pastor asked. “Yes, sir,” Adebayo confirmed, to loud cheers from the congregation.

Adebayo continued, stating that despite having no firearms training whatsoever, he took the gun to the front of the robbers’ vehicle and fired at the driver.

“God gave me the wisdom. I collected the gun from an armed robber, and I have never shot before. I don’t have any training. I was speaking in tongues. I went to the front of their car. I shot at the driver. I said, ‘This car will not move unless I’m not serving the God of my father,’” he declared to a roar of applause from the church.

Adebayo said that after he fired at the robbers’ vehicle, the car refused to start. The robbers, now unable to use their own vehicle, had no choice but to flee the scene in Adebayo’s car, taking the ₦9 million with them.

“I said, ‘This car will not move.’ Unfortunately, they start the car. Their car refused to move. They start it, so they have no other choice than to go with my car,” he explained.

Apostle Suleman, while recounting what had been seen in the viral video, confirmed that when the robbers’ vehicle was later discovered, there were bloodstains inside it—an indication that the shots fired by Adebayo had struck at least one of the occupants.

“His life was preserved. He was not trained to shoot a gun. God empowered him. He shot at them. When he discovered the car, there were bloodstains all over,” Apostle Suleman told the congregation.

Adebayo revealed that before leaving home on the day of the incident, he had told members of his household that he would recover his car, declaring that it would not go missing because a photograph of his late father was inside.

“I told my people before I left home yesterday, I said, ‘I’m going to see my car because the picture of my father is inside. That car will not be missing,’” he said.

His confidence proved well-founded. While travelling to Lokoja in search of the vehicle, his wife called to inform him that the car had been found abandoned in a bush near Lokoja, where the robbers had apparently dumped it after stripping it of the cash.

“So immediately I reached Lokoja, my wife called me that they have seen my car in a nearby bush, that they parked my car. But unfortunately, they took away my money,” he said.

Perhaps the most remarkable element of Adebayo’s testimony was his account of surviving gunfire during the encounter. He told the church that the robbers had fired at him multiple times during the confrontation, but that the bullets only grazed his body and clothes without inflicting any serious injury.

“But I thank God, as they were shooting, the bullets just scratched my body and my clothes, but I don’t know how God preserved me. I thank God for everything He has done in my life,” Adebayo said, to sustained cheering from the congregation.

The video of Adebayo’s church testimony has since gone viral across social media platforms, attracting widespread attention and commentary from Nigerians. While many have hailed his bravery and invoked divine intervention as an explanation for his survival, others have echoed Apostle Suleman’s warning about the dangers of sharing sensitive financial information, particularly in an environment where bank customers are frequently targeted by armed robbers operating on insider intelligence.

Apostle Suleman’s counsel remains a sobering postscript to the extraordinary testimony: “For robbers to wait, waiting for you to come out, it means somebody already told them.”
