He said that it was not right for about 10,000 law school students to fail the final bar examinations organised by the Council of Legal Education (CLE). He said that owing to the fact that the Nigeria Law School was supposed to be a vocational training school, it was wrong for students to be judged on theoretical works only. He said that calling students to the bar should be based on the fact that in the course of their “one year stay in the law school, they attended up to 75% of class attendance, went for court attachment, law firm placements, attended mock courts trials and other activities.” According to him, “These are essential keys to call them to bar,” adding: “We, therefore, urge President Muhammadu Buhari and the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu to compel the Nigeria Law School and the Council of Legal Education to organise a special call to bar ceremony to all resit law school students who were declared to have failed and issue them their bar certificate and qualifying certificate. Taking this step will reduce the high rate of unemployment and crime wave in the country.”]]>
