The Akume Dajoh family has announced the marriage of George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), to his new wife, Queen Zaynab Ngohemba-George Akume Dajoh.

The announcement was shared by Abraham Double-d Dajoh on Facebook on Friday. He wrote:

“We, the entire Dajoh Family, happily join our daddy, uncle, and brother, His Excellency, The Secretary To The Government Of The Federation, Sen. George Akume Jugu Dajoh, in welcoming his new and uncommon wife, Queen Zaynab Ngohemba-George Akume Dajoh, into the Dajoh family.”

The family also expressed gratitude to supporters of Sen. Akume, urging them to continue their support:

“We appreciate and thank the fans and supporters of Sen. Akume for always standing by him. We enjoin every one of you to continue to support his Excellency even in this beautiful union with Queen Zaynab. We wish you all a happy Christmas celebration and a prosperous New Year.”

In the post, the Dajoh family formally welcomed the bride to Benue State, described as the “Food Basket of the Nation,” to Mbakor, “the seat of leadership of the Tiv nation,” and to the Dajoh family, “the home of your darling husband.” The family concluded, “Welcome home, Queen Zaynab.” Several photos circulated online showing members of the Dajoh family with the new bride.

Queen Zaynab was previously married to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, in a traditional ceremony on March 12, 2016, in Benin City, Edo State, followed by a thanksgiving and reception at the Royal Court of Ife on March 13, 2016. She was known as Olori Wuraola during her marriage. On August 30, 2017, she officially confirmed the end of the marriage via Instagram, addressing rumours of infidelity and infertility as false, and expressing her commitment to humanitarian work with the United Nations.

Following the divorce, she reverted to her maiden name, Zaynab Otiti Obanor, and relocated to Doha, Qatar. Prior to her marriage to SGF Akume, she was widely reported to have married a wealthy Arab prince, with whom she welcomed a daughter in 2022.

Meanwhile, Senator George Akume is also married to 71-year-old Hon. (Chief Dr.) Regina Akume, a politician and current Member of the House of Representatives representing Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency of Benue State under the All Progressives Congress (APC). At the time of filing this report, there has been no formal divorce recorded between SGF Akume and Regina Akume.

When contacted on the telephone on Friday, Akume’s spokesman, Yomi Odunuga, confirmed the marriage.

He, however, said contrary to reports that the wedding was held on December 24, the marriage is over a year old.

“I can confirm the marriage. However, contrary to the rumour that the marriage was concretised in Gboko on Christmas eve when the couple appeared together at an event to celebrate Christmas, it was actually a marriage that is over a year old,” Odunuga said.
