The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Saturday announced the arrest of Dr. Mkor Aondona, Special Adviser to the Governor of Benue State on Documentation, Research, and Planning, over allegations of sextortion and cyberbullying.

According to a statement issued by the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, Aondona was arrested on Friday, June 20, 2025, in Makurdi, following complaints by several female students who accused the governor’s aide of unethical and criminal conduct involving sexual exploitation, cyberbullying, and blackmail.

The anti-graft agency stated that the petitioners alleged Aondona routinely recruited slim and attractive girls for ushering jobs, demanding sexual favors as a precondition for selection.

Oyewale further disclosed that the victims claimed Aondona secretly recorded sexual encounters without their consent and used the footage to coerce them into ongoing sexual relations under the threat of exposure.

He added that the allegations include claims that Aondona distributed some of the explicit videos via messaging platforms without the victims’ knowledge or permission.

The EFCC confirmed that the suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The statement read in part:
“Operatives of the Makurdi Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested the Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Benue State on Documentation, Research, and Planning, Dr. Mkor Aondona, for alleged sextortion and cyberbullying.

“He was arrested on Friday, June 20, 2025, in Makurdi, following complaints from several female students who accused the governor’s aide of unethical and criminal behaviour involving sexual exploitation, cyberbullying, and blackmail.

“The petitioners alleged that Aondona routinely recruited slim and attractive girls for ushering jobs, insisting on sexual favours as a condition for their selection.

“Based on this, the girls became vulnerable to sexual relations with him, unaware that he was recording the encounters without their consent. He reportedly used the videos to threaten them into continuing the relationship.

“Aondona is also alleged to have engaged in blackmail by distributing explicit videos—reportedly recorded without the girls’ knowledge—through various messaging platforms. Some of these videos are said to be in circulation.”
