Former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has offered to cover the relocation expenses of a first-class Mathematics graduate of the University of Ilorin, Blessing Oluwafikayo Adisa, to enable her take up a fully funded Master’s scholarship in Italy.

Saraki announced the gesture on Saturday in a post on his X handle after coming across Adisa’s public appeal for financial support.

Adisa, who graduated with a First Class in Mathematics from UNILORIN with a CGPA of 4.76/5.0, had disclosed that she secured a fully funded Master’s admission in Mathematics at the University of Calabria, Italy, but needed assistance to cover the cost of relocation.

Reacting to her appeal, Saraki described her academic feat as an extraordinary achievement and a reflection of the potential of many young Nigerians.

“Dear Blessing, I just came across your tweet, and it truly inspired me,” Saraki wrote.

“To graduate with a First Class in Mathematics from UNILORIN and then earn a fully funded Master’s admission in Italy is an extraordinary achievement. You have demonstrated excellence and the promise that exists in so many young Nigerians.”

The former Kwara State governor said no young Nigerian who had worked hard to earn such an opportunity should be held back by relocation costs.

“No young person who has worked this hard should have such an opportunity limited by the cost of getting there. It would be my privilege to support your journey by covering what is left in the cost of your relocation,” he added.

Saraki also directed a member of his office, identified as @nancy_i_i, to contact Adisa immediately to facilitate the support.

“@nancy_i_i from my office will reach out to you today. Congratulations once again. Go, excel, and continue to make Nigeria proud,” he said.

The intervention has attracted positive reactions on social media, with many Nigerians commending the gesture as timely support for education, youth development and academic excellence.
