The report linked the purported threat with the alleged hard line posture of Jacob, who is prosecuting the case of Senate President Bukola Saraki before the CCT. Hearing on the matter involving Saraki, a former governor of Kwara state before the tribunal has been rescheduled for tomorrow (Friday). The online media alleged that there was a grand design by “some unknown persons” to abduct the woman believed to be residing in Omu-Aran, the headquarters of Irepodun local government area of Kwara as a bargain for haphazard prosecution of the matter. But the spokesman of the state police command, Ajayi Okasanmi ASP said the report remained the figment of imagination of the writer, noting that Kwara state has not lost its status as one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria. “We want to let members of the public realise the fact that the insinuation is not to our knowledge. Anyone who is alleging it should come up with a proof to that effect. We are not aware of it at all. I think such a writer should have confirmed first from us before going to the press. Maybe he is having an information we don’t have.’’ But we want to assure all that Kwara is a safe haven for all the lovers of peace.” Okasanmi, while cautioning journalists against acts that could heat up the polity, said the issues on security “very sensitive ones”, should not be politicised but verified. Besides, the Police officer urged members of the public to always ignore media reports on security, “that does not reflect the angle of the Police.”]]>
